Cannot not love Tacos, Flautas, Chilaquiles in Mexico City, it is the cheapest and most easily available hearty Mexican food - In short, Mexico City is basically the main character of the taco universe. In fact, the best tacos in the city are usually served from tiny stands and humble taquerias where the grill has been working overtime for years and the menu is basically just “tacos”.
Some of my favorite places eating out in the last 3 months in the city so far. Everything I ate at almost below 60 Pesos, which is a steal deal.

A humble taqueria with bright yellow walls which makes it quite easy to never miss. Enter the taqueria and you can’t miss the chefs prepping the tacos right in front of you at the entrance to the taqueria. What stands out is the service time .. No more than 3 minutes and the piping hot tacos are ready to be served.
A seafood taco place with a list of only about 10 items, it is easy to find your favorite and stick to it. It is easy to not stop at 1, usually I end up eat 2-3 tacos. My usual favorite is the joint at El Pescadito Centro Histórico.

My absolute favorite place to go for an easy, humble hearty meal, backed by excellent and fast service.
It is easy to locate this place from afar, usually buzzing with a crowd even at 10 pm at night.
Apart from the trusty tacos, I love the flautas, chilaquiles and pozoles. Usually covered with a generous layer of lettuce and cream. The portion size is the best in town.
Also don't miss on the Flan de la abuela..best way to end a meal.

I ran into this place whilst hoping around Cuauhtemoc, the bright warm lights and airy seating looked inviting enough for me to google the place and to my surprise it was rated a 5/5 on Google. After I was done with my meal I could tell why.
I had the best melt in your mouth fish tacos here and fell in love with the tuna tostadas, towering and juicy, absolutely delicious. And it helps that they have an amazing and witty staff to help with the orders.

Vibrant with its classic red and white color scheme this place never disappoints, with multiple joints across the city it is probably a taqueria with the cheapest tacos, the first time I ate there I could almost not believe that the tacos cost as low as 30-35 pesos. Served with a variety of salsa options, its the ultimate reliable place for a decent meal and invisible budget.
I am sure the city has 100 other taquerias serving delicious tacos, which I yet to explore. For the time being this is my list of favorites place to eat in Mexico City without making a whole in your pocket.
